About OrbitProbe
OrbitProbe (sometimes written Orbit Probe) is a domain intelligence tool. It reads public registration data, DNS records and HTTPS responses for a domain and presents them in one report, with the source and observation time of every answer.
What it does
- Lookups: a full domain report plus 27 tools for WHOIS, DNS, mail, network and web checks. They are free and work without an account.
- Portfolio: keep the domains you own or manage in one private list, with expiry dates and renewal reminders 30, 14, 7 and 1 day before expiry.
- Monitoring: 4 watch types (expected change, unexpected change, uptime and TLS certificate), re-checked on an interval you pick from every 15 minutes to every 24 hours, with a history of what changed and when.
- Marketplace: opt-in listings with a DNS control check and a review before they appear. Offers expire after 7 days. Accepting an offer records an agreement only: no payment, escrow or registrar transfer is connected.
Where the data comes from
- Registration data from RDAP: the IANA bootstrap registry names the RDAP server of each top-level domain, and the record is read as published. Redacted fields stay redacted.
- DNS records from public recursive resolvers. The propagation check asks 10 fixed public resolvers and reports how many of them returned each answer.
- Web and certificate details from one ordinary HTTPS request to the hostname. Requests to private, local or internal addresses are refused.
Every answer names its source and the time it was observed. Results describe what was measured from our server at that moment.
Principles
- A failed lookup is never reported as "available". A missing answer is "could not be checked", not "no".
- DNS results are "N of M resolvers", for example 9 of 10. Never a percentage, never "the whole internet".
- OrbitProbe does not buy, guess or reconstruct personal data. It does not port scan, brute-force subdomains or try to find hidden origin servers.
- Visit measurement is optional: analytics loads only after you choose "Allow analytics", and you can change that under "Cookie options" at the bottom of every page.
Languages and apps
The site is available in 6 languages: English, Turkish, German, Spanish, Russian and French. Not every page is written in every language yet; a page that is not translated is not shown in that language. The iPhone app is on the App Store; the Android app is in closed testing on Google Play.
