What is .es?

.es is the country-code top-level domain of Spain, managed by the public entity Red.es. Because "es" also means "is" in Spanish, it is popular across the Spanish-speaking world.

Who can register it

Second-level .es names are open to any person or organisation with an interest in or ties to Spain, and no documents are checked at registration. Note that the registry's port-43 WHOIS is limited to authorised IP addresses, so public tools often cannot read .es registration data.

How do I run a WHOIS lookup for a .es domain?

Does .es support RDAP?

The IANA RDAP bootstrap file dated 2026-09-16 does not list an RDAP service for .es. Registration data is queried through the classic WHOIS server whois.nic.es. Registries can add RDAP later, so this may change over time.
