What is .br?
.br is the country-code top-level domain of Brazil, operated by Registro.br, a department of NIC.br. Names are registered under category zones such as .com.br, .net.br or .org.br rather than directly under .br. Registro.br was an early adopter of RDAP and took part in its development.
Who can register it
Registrants are identified by a Brazilian tax number: a CPF for individuals or a CNPJ for companies. A foreign company needs a legal representative in Brazil to register.
WHOIS, RDAP and privacy
An RDAP service for .br (rdap.registro.br) is published in the IANA RDAP bootstrap file. OrbitProbe reads registration data from it first, as structured JSON: registrar, creation and expiry dates, EPP status codes and nameservers. For ccTLDs, what is published is decided by the registry and local law rather than by ICANN, so output differs from one extension to the next. Most registries do not show the personal data of individuals in public output. OrbitProbe only ever shows the organisation name and country.
